(PROVIDENCE, September 15, 2017) – The Art Providence Holiday Show presented by Delin Design and RedDot Modern Merch Co is set for December 9-10 at the Rhode Island Convention Center and hopes to carry on a long-standing tradition initiated by the Rhode Island School of Design over 20 years ago - the annual arts, crafts and design holiday sale for RISD graduates – with a few twists.

The new show will be open for two days, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a VIP Preview Night available to sponsors and special ticket holders on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Over 200 artists and artisans will be showcased; roughly half are RISD alumni and half hail from Providence, greater New England and beyond. In the spirit of CraftBoston and other nationally recognized premier art and craft shows, Art Providence Holiday Show artists were juried in by a panel of experts active in art, craft and design.

“The RISD alumni show has been a strong show for me for 22 years,” said Elise Moran, a RISD graduate who hand forges delicate necklaces, bracelets and rings out of silver. “I’m very happy the Art Providence Show is continuing the tradition of bringing in a strong core of RISD alumni while admitting an influx of new work. It has the potential to be an even bigger and better show.”

Spawned by ArtSmart Productions in April following RISD’s decision to cancel their annual sale, the Art Providence Holiday Show generated immediate interest and quickly became a viable alternative for past graduates and area artists alike.

“I am not a RISD grad and haven’t had the opportunity to do that particular show,” said Michelle Phaneuf, a popular ceramicist based in Providence. “Although I was sad to hear RISD decided not to do the show anymore, I was thrilled [that ArtSmart] came up with something new. The fact that it resembles CraftBoston made it very enticing for me.”

The Art Providence Holiday Show has also garnered the support of local businesses and is presented by two key Pawtucket-based partners: Delin Design and RedDot Modern Merch Co.

“We love it here,” said Eric Delin, owner of Delin Designs. “We’re honored to be an active partner in the region’s plan for responsible growth and development and proud to support the continued celebration of art, craft and design in our community.”

“Creative minds need creative outlets - not only to enjoy their passion, but to share it with others as well,” added Delin.

Show categories include ceramics, fiber decorative, fiber wearable, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, prints, sculpture and wood.

General admission to December 9 and 10, Saturday and Sunday is $8 per day or $10 for a two-day pass. Kids 16 and under are admitted free of charge. Tickets may be purchased online in advance or at the door.

Tickets to VIP Preview Night on Friday, December 8, available only online, may be purchased for $100 per person and include a special gift, beverage, light faire and a first look at the artists’ works.
