RISD's Michael Lamar will serve as a juror for the Art Providence Holiday Sale.

The 2017 Art Providence Holiday Show is set for December 9-10 at the Rhode Island Convention Center and is now accepting applications from artists and artisans across the nation in a variety of categories.

A panel of three jurors has been confirmed to approve entry into this two-day sale which replaces the RISD Alumi & Student Holiday Sale after its 20-year successful run:

Michael Lamar
Owner of Altamira Lighting, Senior Critic at RISD in the Dept. of Industrial Design, former member of the American Craft Council Board of Trustees

Beth Ann Gerstein
Executive Director, American Museum of Ceramic Art, CA and former Executive Director, Society of Arts + Crafts, MA

Beth McLaughlin
Chief Curator of Exhibitions and Collections, Fuller Craft Museum

"My hope is that the Art Providence incarnation will maintain the quality and variety of exhibitors and provide what our customers expect," says Lamar, who has been associated with RISD for over 32 years. "Art Providence intends to acknowledge the character and legacy of what RISD Alumni can provide, but will also introduce fresh and diverse regional exhibitors from various educational backgrounds and approaches."

"It is an honor to be asked, and I am thrilled to serve in this capacity," notes McLaughlin. She has been involved in the arts for over 20 years as a corporate art consultant and most recently, as a prestigious museum curator. "I'm so pleased there is an event to carry on the spirit of the RISD Alumni Sale."

Categories include: ceramics, decorative fiber, wearable fiber, drawing, furniture, glass, graphics, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, painting, paper, photography, sculpture, baskets and wood.

All images will be viewed using computer monitors. Applicants will be notified of jury selections on Juried Art Services and via email shortly after the completion of the jury process.

Wait-listed exhibitors are queued for acceptance based on their juror scores and media category. Approximately 85% of artists will be selected through an open jury process and 15% will be invited by the jurors.

The application deadline is May 23. Visit JuriedArtServices.com to apply.
